F-16 on A-28 (April 1st, appx 9:45)
Last Wednesday, while on the Utrecht-bound lane of the A-28 between Soesterberg and the A-27 (near exit Zeist/Den Dolder), I noticed an outsize load truck travelling in the opposite direction. On the flatbed was a RNLAF F-16, complete with canopy and seemingly complete with an engine (that is to say: the nozzle was visible). Removed were all flying surfaces: wings, horizontal&vertical tail surfaces. As the tail was off, I could not make out it's identity. Does anyone have any idea which airframe this was, and where it was going?
Possibilities: MLM (Soesterberg), AOCS NM (Nieuw Milligen) or Leeuwarden AB. Or maybe I am thinking too narrowmindedly, 'cause it might also be heading for Aviodrome or ROC Zwolle. Any other ideas? It did look like a good airframe, and had a clean grey coat of paint, so I doubt it was heading for the scrapheap.

It arrived at WDT around early in the afternoon.

Eh? It was travelling on A-28 Utrecht - Amersfoort, and ended up at Woensdrecht? Doesn't sound very logical to me...Jetzone 2000 wrote:It arrived at WDT around early in the afternoon.

Perhaps that's J248, the frame the RNLAF uses at fairs, shows, open days etc.
It might be en route to Soesterberg, as this weekend there is the so called "Museumweekend".

ah, that makes a lot more sense. Would also explain the pretty paint-job. Guess the flight surfaces were on another truck then, I did not see those.Rockville wrote:Perhaps that's J248, the frame the RNLAF uses at fairs, shows, open days etc.

In that case; don't believe me... ETA around 1300-1330 at WDT. Have seen it from about 50 cm, when it came around the corner... logical or notRonaldV wrote:Eh? If you saw it from about 50 cm, could you please share the serial with us? Could be interesting....

As the truck was taking the outside corner, I was busy avoiding a collision and keeping my eyes on the road instead of the serial. So that was why I was sure there was a truck with an F-16 entering WDT AB...

Hi all,
We saw the truck with the fuselage on A-27 heading north to Utrecht the same morning
between 830 till 845 hour, we were traveling to Florennes.
We could not recognize any serial
bye,
Johan vd Bunt

That was definitely the J-248, I saw it at the A-58.
