Mmm.... I don't see that happen.... But I know this: When there is only 1 Tweety operational, a Cougar in Medevac configuaration is standing by on Gilze. When all Tweety's are out, then a Cougar in medevac configuration is taking over the SAR-missions at Leeuwarden. I remember one of the first SAR mission of the Cougar, was that they picked up a pregnant woman (ofcourse....duh!!!) on Terschelling and flew her to a hospital on the mainland. The Cougar involved was, I believe S-450 and a drawing of a crying baby was painted on the RH pilotdoor. The drawing stayed there for several months.frank kramer wrote:perhaps they can borrow an Alouette 3 from 300Sqn and a rescue hoist from the MLM at Soesterberg? The type is not unfamiliar with that role

@fulcrum1974
I know this: When there is only 1 AB-412 up, it will be standby for medical transport. When all the AB-412's are out, the Lynx will do both SAR and medical transport from De Kooy. And from what I know, the Lynx does this on a more than regular basis.
I also heard that at first SAR Leeuwarden didn't invited the Lynx for the SAR meet. That doesn't make any sense either.

Re: SAR meet 2009
Maybe operational reasons prevented Lynx participation to the SAR meet. They do reside under one command now (DHC)

Re: SAR meet 2009
You are probably right, but in the time I worked at 300 sqn, we were standing by several times a year, on Soesterberg and on Leeuwarden acc. to my previous message. But only for medevac mission, not for the SAR, because the Cougar wasn't equipped with the correct software for SAR missions. For the SAR missions, the Lynx was standing by. So they also can invite a Cougar from 300 sqnAmil wrote:@fulcrum1974

Re: SAR meet 2009
Off topic: at the moment the SAR will be carried out by a Lynx and medevacs from the islands by a Lynx or the LL4.
c-177 at leeuwarden or ramstein??
i heard rumors that the c-177 will fly to ramstein instead of leeuwarden? on 22-05-2009. Is this true or, will the c-177 still land on leeuwarden??
Re: SAR meet 2009
At 22 of may the CC-177 will arrive at 10.55 local at Leeuwarden, although it is always possible that it will be an hour earlier or later.
On the 28th the CC-177 will be back to pick up the CH-146, he will depart the 29th.

Re: SAR meet 2009
Does anyone know if this aircraft may fly from Ramstein to Leeuwarden on Friday? It's quite a journey with a chopper from Ramstein to LWD.
