A few minutes at Volkel (18-aug-2009)
Hi everybody,
This morning I visited Volkel for a couple of minutes. I waited for the first aircraft to depart, before leaving for Gilze-Rijen. The first 3-ship went out at 09.20 hrs, and this is them while they taxied out to runway 24.
Hope you like them.
Cheers,
Iwan
PS: Photo 1 and 3 have been re-edited on my PC instead of my laptop. The current photos are NOT the original uploaded ones.
1. First 3-ship of the day taxxing out to runway 24.
2. Last of the first 3-ship, which was later seen overhead in TMA-D
3. Too hot for gloves, probably.

Nice perspectives used Iwan! Great stuff. Even a house, garden and kitchen F-16 comes out great here..
Re: A few minutes at Volkel (18-aug-2009)
Great perspective on that last one! Is it a crop of the first pic?

Hi Iwan,
Seems to me you've got some free days? Nice to see an 'ordinary' spotterstopic from one of Scramble's most famous photographer
In my opinion your posted pics aren't that special. Altough the first two are very sharp and clear, the third (cropped?) one is a bit of a pitty: you can see the pixels very clearly. Maybe the reason of it can be found in the fact that you've edit them on your laptop?
Don't want to be offensive but I think you've probabaly spoiled us (or me at least) too much with your wonderfull reports so this 'normal looking' pics arn't stunning.
I'm looking forward to see your pics of GR, at the moment I can hear them flying a lot!
Regards,
Sven

How hard can it be if you know him, his skin color is a bit darker than most F16 pilots for the RNLAFbavaria wrote:Cool. I recognize the pilot by his hands!!

Re: A few minutes at Volkel (18-aug-2009)
Hi guys,
Thanks for all nice comments ! Just came back from a few days away from home, and found 13 replies to an ordinary topic. Wow !
To answer your questions: Yes, photo 3 is a 100% crop from photo 1. The size of the original photo is 5616 x 3744 pixels, so a 900 x 600 crop would make something like this......
Again, I was extremely satisfied with the sharpness of my Canon EOS-5D Mark II in combination with the Canon EF 300/2.8L. Truely amazing !!
The photo was taken on Tuesday 18 August at about 09.20 hrs, from the spotters corner (see exact location here: http://www.bing.com/maps/#JmV4cGxvcmU9c ... cmbHZsPTE5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Aircraft involved is F-16AM J-881, the first aircraft to depart that morning.
@Sven: Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately none of us makes 100% stunning shots, even if we tried. Last week I just enjoyed myself doing regular things, like Volkel, Gilze-Rijen, Eindhoven and GLV-5. Not very exciting stuff, but I did enjoy myself with friends like Anno, Alex, Sander, Bianca, Jimmy and Bas.
@Roel: Yes, I was planning on a small trip to Wales, but unfortunately nobody had time to accompany me (I guess 5 days is rather short notice.... )
Hopefully I can do another day out next Tuesday. Still not sure where I will go...... The Slopes, Wittmund, GLV-5, Reims. Suggestions anyone ?
Cheers,
Iwan
