I can confirm FB09 was also inside at 16/09/09!!! Was for 30 minutes outside in the morning, afterwards pushed into.frank kramer wrote:Don't know about the other regs, but I read FB-09 myself. That one definitely WAS inside around 0845 lt.

Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
In the hanger at around 08:20 on 18th Sept we could see F-16A FA-82 and F-16B FB-09. We could only see one more F-16A at that time but could not read it off.
Hope this helps.

I have a question about the special painted F-16 (FA-16) Is it realy the FA-16 because it had the 4 extra antena's in front of the cockpit which all MLU updated F-16's have? Anyone more info on this F-16?

At 1715lt, the hangar door was partly open and it was really easy from the fenceline to read four of the F-16s inside.Sleegertje wrote:Have you've been in the hangar or not?Piet Luijken wrote:In hangar near Red Bull acft at 1715:

Indeed there were some Extras of the RJF inside, I saw three of them.
We got the following serials from a Belgium Pilot:
FA81, FA82, FA136, FB20
Which are correct?

These four F-16s were in the middle and far end part of the large hangar.

Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
yes, it absolutely is F-16A FA-16. I had the privilege to work on the new Flash book "Belgian Special Colours" and the information we received from the guys who painted it (Johan Wolfs and Peter Verheyen) is that the aircraft was taken out of storage, emptied out completely to save weight and was then "made up" to look like an -AM by adding fake aerials to the nose. The cockpit is -or was- strictly F-16A, too. Also, there is no engine installed, only the nozzle. Hope this settles this question.De Verrekieker wrote:I have a question about the special painted F-16 (FA-16) Is it realy the FA-16 because it had the 4 extra antena's in front of the cockpit which all MLU updated F-16's have? Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
The FA-16 was already in the workshop over a year ago, we saw it there during a basevisit when they took all unneccesary parts off of her and she did not have th eaerials at that time. The aerials did look fake last friday as they did not have the perfect fit as the real ones have, but it's a nice mock-up.frank kramer wrote:yes, it absolutely is F-16A FA-16. From what I understood during the basevisit, she's due to be located amongst the other preserved aircraft on the square near the entrance of the base

Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
Does anyone have a photo of FA-16, as i've seen a "mock-up" F-16 near the temporary NTM Gate at the North-side of the base. Not sure it actually was a "real" F-16, was driving to fast..... but could be the same.

To me it appeared to be a cardboard mock-up of a viper in old tiger livery........, don't have a picture though as I wasn't allowed to take one or to get inside the fenceThe DJ wrote:Does anyone have a photo of FA-16, as i've seen a "mock-up" F-16 near the temporary NTM Gate at the North-side of the base. That could well be, Ruud. It was as you say in tiger livery, caught only a glimpse of it as i was driving way too fast to get in time at the other runway end....

Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
For your information: FA-16 is in the standard F-16 scheme except for the tail. The right hand side of the tail has the markings of the 3 KB-based units in shades of grey and the left hand side has a large red lion (the emblem of the province of Limburg as well as that of 10 Wing). There's nothing "tiger" about it except for a small badge of 31Smd on the tail.

Re: NATO Tiger Meet spottersday 18 September 2009
Hi Frank, the last question wasn't about the FA-16 but about a mock-up that was located at a (not regular) entrance at the north side of the base. The mock-up features an old tiger scheme....
