US should close FOL at Curaçao

Post by Robert »

The contract with the American military 'location' on Curaçao that in 2010 ends, can better be not extended. That said the local politician Helmin Wiels of opposition party Pueblo Soberano Saturday.
"That’s way we prevent that Curaçao becomes a party in a possible war between Venezuela and the United States." Wheels is of it convinced that the increasing tensions between Colombia and Venezuela, will lead to a war between America and the country of president Hugo Chávez
The United States has closed several military bases in Colombia and the country recently signing contracts for more bases. According to Wheels is America steering on to a war with Venezuela. That can have ,according to him 'disastrous' consequences for Curaçao. "Meanwhile we provided the USAF a base on Curaçao, we could become a traitor in Chávez eyes. We are a small country and can better hold everybody to friend."
The American Forward Operation Location (FOL) was established in 2000 on Curaçao. The USAF use the FOL in their fight against drugs. The ten-year contract for the locations on Curaçao and Aruba ends next year.

It is not even military news, its nothing more then repeating the opinion of a one of Curacao's politicians, known for his anti-Dutch and socialist views. Why should anyone repeat his views here on the messageboard other than in 't Praethuys?
