Re: 104's
Stefan, thanks for this one ! It scores high on my list of 104 flashbacks. Taking a picture was impossible until the show was over and the German collegues asked for permission to remove the fences. And still then it was a bit nerve wrecking: The base people wanted to put back the fences or tow the 104 away but everybody wanted to wait for the sun to come out from between the clouds. And then you had to do careful positioning to avoid the usual 50mm mob...
PS: Did you manage to get a decent shot of the Italian MM6844/37-03 ? It was the first 37° Stormo 104 I ever saw but fenced in all day too. Somehow I missed the un-fencing moment (if it ever took place).
cheers, Henk Schuitemaker

Re: 104's
Henk, the crash of one Canadian CF-104 on the German Autobahn was in May 1983, during a airshow at Rhein Main. The aircraft hit one car killing a complete family; two three adults and two childerenHenkS wrote:Rob, I like that Canadian one a lot! I will never forget their 4-ship display team flying on the 1979 Ramstein airshow. Unfortunately I only have a few dodgy black & white pics of that day... I believe one of them crashed on the Autobahn during another show in Germany.
cheers, Henk Schuitemaker
Cheers.

I must admit that I am not that eager to shoot everything that I can remember the above. Being more into serials, I do not mind missing a shot. Therefore I do not have the 37Stormo 104.

Stefan

Re: 104's
The static at Nörvenich in 1993 was a nightmare. I didn't even try to take photos of the Turkish and Italian F-104s. That means they were very very bad positioned. Stefan, your Turkish 104 was really worth waiting for!
Some new (old!) additions.
My first Italian Starfighter, a (R)F-104G at Volkel in April 1980. A scan from a faded photo.
And the first German F-104G, at Greenham Common (IAT 1981), also from a photo.
And a Marineflieger 104 at Schleswig in 1986, with Kormoran missile.
Rob

Re: 104's
Hé, we're not ready yet!
Some rotations we've already seen. First Twenthe 13 June 1989.
Volkel, 30 October 1986.
One more.
And a German at Brustem airshow, 27 June 1987.
Anyone more 104s?
Rob
