Re: Tribute to the A-10 'Warthog'
I thought I didn't see any Barksdale Hogs yet on this topic.
Twelve of them from 47 TFS (917 TFG) were at Ahlhorn A.B. from June 29th till July 11th 1986.
The name: Coronet Cheyenne.
Stayed for 2 days with 3 of my friends in tents just 100 meters from the fence. The Hogs flew
like crazy with a lot of times hot pit refuelling.
79-0143/BD (crashed in 2003 while serving with the 66th WS at Nellis )
79-0146/BD (doesn't fly anymore )
79-0145/BD (still active with the 47th !!!!)
79-0149/BD (also still active with the 47th )
79-0147/BD (and this one is also still active within the 47th)

Re: Tribute to the A-10 'Warthog'
I very recently found out how to post pictures, so I now can post some of my alltime favorite plane here! I've seen very beautiful interesting pictures of everyone and here are a few additions: Some oldies in the more beautiful colors if you ask me.
1st one is from the good ol'days at Bentwaters. What a base! Picture from 1991
This ones comes with a little story. We were at the fence at Alconbury and were soaking wet from the terrible rain. Litterally nothing was dry anymore and normally we'd be long gone, but you could see the blue skyies were coming. Just minutes after the sun broke finally through, a fourship A-10's came back from a mission. The dark sky in the back was our ordeal... The A-10's still half wet and the taxiway soaking. I'm still proud of this shot considering I had no stepladder and with a higher than usual fence I had to stand on a concrete pole and shoot almost blind, because I was still too small to make my composition clearly. Manual focusing also! Pfff, but it worked.
the 3rd one I shot on the Waddington photocall in april 1990. A perfect day to shoot with K25!
There were 2 on the static. Hereby the commanders plane.
The last one for now is one from another deployment to Alhorn, June 1989. We had a lot of trouble before taking these pictures, because the permission to photograph was from the Germans.. Result; a lot of panic and phonecalls... In the end ofcourse the permission came from the americans and we were allowed to shoot 4 airplanes... Here's one:
Hope you'll like them!
