Volkel 21-05-2010: flying RW 24 or 06?

Good evening,

In view of the fine weather forecast, I would like to pay Volkel a visit tomorrow (Friday). Yet the expected wind direction is North and it is not very clear to me what flying direction will be preferable in this case.
Could anyone tell me whether aircraft are expected to take runway 24 or 06?

Thanks in advance.

Northerly winds usually mean runway 06L, but you'll only know for sure tomorrow. The arrester cable on the runway is an indication, IF they install it tomorrow, then it will be at the END of the runway-in-use.

Good luck.

Okay, thanks a lot!
Just one more question: according to the airfield guide, all regular operations take place from shelters on the north-side. Does the use of runway 06L imply aircraft will only taxi to and from shelters on the north-west side? Or will they also come from shelters at the spottersplace-side? ('cause I'd really like to see them taxi by as close as from spot 1 8) )

Or am I asking to much now? :)

When 06L is in use the F-16's won't use (or will at least rarely use) spot 1 for taxiing out, but you may be able to catch them from that spot while they're taxiing back after landing at 06L... Although chances are they sometimes (or always?) take one of the mid-runway-taxiways that lead into the northerly shelterarea, I don't know.

Good luck!
