Indeed. Read the same! But I also think that the current developments between North and South Korea also draws a lot of the attention of the USN. So I doubt that there will be a ship of any size in the Med then!

I think that will something to be dealt with by the Pacific fleet. IF something makes its way to France, it wil come from the Atlantic fleet.Arjan wrote:Indeed. Read the same! YEs offcourse, but I think that the Atlantic fleet will then replace the Pacific fleet assets in the south west asia. But this is speculation offcourse and might call for a split off topic!

As far as I remember, I thougt it was said that the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower should be there returning from a tour of duty in support of the coalition forces in Afghanistan
But as I do not know anything more then you guys this is all based on what flew arround and I searched around a bit and found a list of actual active carriers...

From what I understood is that beside Korea there is also some kind of a show of force in the Persian Gulf off Iran. Two carriers are present including Ike. So I am afraid they will not be in Toulon.aerolet wrote:Hi
Has anyone received a form of confirmation regarding the spotters day?

Even if no foreign carrier shows up, I'll be there, and will enjoy the view of Aeronavale aircraft which I'm not used to see... So anything extra would be great. That's how I'm going to Hyeres

Hi all,
USS Truman will be there, with possible aircraft catapulting from the carrier on the 12th.

Will the Truman be in a harbour later that weekend, or will it stay at open sea??
Best regards Rob

Next to the carriers will also be a French Air Defense Frigate (Foudre) , a German and an American Frigate (Trumans battle group??). Apparently there will also be Italian presence in the sky!
The ships will drop anchor about 5 kms out of the coast in the bay of Hyeres (which is something like in the middle) and are indeed not visible! So renting a boat is a serious option if you want to see the launch of the Hornets.
The airshow is from 13:30 till 19:30!
