Hi All,
Spend two days at Nellis AFB. I rented a 400mm 2.8 what a heavy thing is that.
I used it with a 1.4 ext. Due to the heavy lens (I was not “trained” for) and high wind, it was difficult.
But still happy with some results.

Those are some stunning pictures Marcel! Well done.
Just for the info, what's the cropfactor of your camera? And was the 400mm+1.4TC sufficient to get the planes "randje randje"? or did you have to crop a lot in Photoshop?

Re: Raptors (and more) at Nellis AFB
Joost,
All photo’s are taken at spot 3 (speedway) from the scramble airfield guide when a/c turning from base leg to final approach Rwy 21R. I used a canon 7D (1.6 crop factor). It depends when the a/c will start its turn to final Approach if it will fill the frame, but when they come with more a/c keep in mind that all a/c after the first one will turn later. Resume, when you on the right spot it will fill the frame with only 400mm, but my experience you need 400+ mm.
Another nice spot is take-off shots from Rwy 21L at point 1 from the scramble airfield guide.
