Tucson (KTUS/TUS) - 2010 MIL

Post by Ergo01 »

Tucson IAP May 14

During a business trip in Arizona I found some time to devote to the hobby. Firstly Tucson IAP, from where I don't have digital photos right now (still making slides). The battery of the Lumix went dead after hard work along the fence at AMARG.
Straight from the book, the unedited numbers (maybe some errors crept in).
Shortly before 9AM I arrived and immediately the first 2 F16s landed. At 11AM the score stood at 30 different F16s active.
AZ coded single seaters: 89-002, 89-117, 89-100, 87-361, 85-407, 84-216, 84-237, 85-404, 84-258, 84-318, 84-375, 84-387, 85-417, 83-144, 90-720
AZ coded two-seaters: 90-785, 83-178, 83-1183, 83-180, 00-3029
uncoded two-seater: 89-155
AT coded F16s: 85-1405, 86-211, 87-381, 84-278
UAE F16s: 3013, 3003, 3005, 3032, 3006
Approaches by C130 DM 588 and an LF F-16 that caught me by surprise.
What a relaxed place! You can sit along the fence at 200-250 mm for the taxitrack.
No need to hide, just bring enough water cause the sun is a bitch.
Later more from other places around, with photos - in the relevant section.

The final three UAE Block 60 Desert Vipers left Tucson this morning:

3029 00-6004
3030 00-6005
3008 00-6063

3005 will depart????? Massive repairs required which means lots of time.

Hi James,

In April I went down to Sahuarita to get a shot of the F-4E at the VFW (lovely display) so I know you are a local enthusiast to Tucson. I am still trying to track down a USAF Texan that went into Tucson IAP or at least was there on 3rd April this year. We saw it round the back near the C-26 hangar on our DM overflight .

Any ideas much appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi Rick,

I did not photograph on that day. I checked my archive a couple of days either side and didn't find one. Sorry.

Afternoon James,

Many thanks for checking and reply. Never mind, another one gets away - long shot anyway.
