A Sri Lanka tour with 4Aviation, the pics
With 4Aviation we are on very nice tour (so far). Today we visit Ratmalana and the SLAF Museum. The SLAF was flying this saturday and almost all aircraft were in. I do not like the new serial system.
Tomorrow we will get up at 5.30 to get on our way to flooding struck China Bay suuroundings. We even have to change bus halfway to be able to get there....
Hope you like the pics and I hope more will follow.....
1; The Herc came in during the morning
2; This Beech left in the moring and came back late in the afternoon
3; The Ce.150 is here for maintanance. After a long struggle we found the ex serial scratched on the inside of the oil cap.
4; SLAF als received Yun 12-IV´s which seem to have airco
5; An An.32 went for a taxi test
6;
7; The other Beech 200
8; Great coloured Herk!
9; Just a pic
10; Taken from a mobile stairs
Hope one of us is able to post China Bay on monday.

Quite a unique collection of pics, Pat! I love the off-white Herc!
I agree on the new serial system; I liked the former UK-style system better.
Have a great time there, talk to you soon!

A Sri Lanka tour with 4Aviation, the pics. Day 2 China Bay!
Yesterday was our second "operational" day in Sri Lanka. We spend it at China Bay. Due to the bad weather there was no flying. That the weather is bad became clear when we heard of the 800.000 people that are evacuated just north of this former Tamil LTTE area.
The road towards the airfield was a 4 hour pothole disaster.... When we arrived at the resort the day before we had the idea we where the first guests since the tsunami.
1 First a 40 year old Cessna! There are still half a dozen active
2 The only K-8 in a dark grey c/s
3 On PT-6 outside in the tropics.....
4 And inside
5 And outside
6 Two new shelters where build
7 One of 7 operational K-8's
8
Thanks for all the nice comments.
The pics of the SF.260 request will follow in a seperate W&R threat. There was a JP on the gate which I will also post there.
Today we where at the helicopter bases in central Sri Lanka. We just arrived in a great 4Aviation resort overlooking the sea but the floodings cost us a lot of travel time. I never saw that much water at places where it is not suppose to be. Today injured people from the northern part of Sri Lanka flew in by B.212.....

Re: A Sri Lanka tour with 4Aviation, the pics. Day 2, China Bay!
I'm not going to nag about weather conditions, since so many people overthere have had their lives destroyed because of it. Nice pics, great second part of your report!

A Sri Lanka tour with 4Aviation, the pics. Day 3! Helicopter
Yesterday was helicopterday. We visited the two airbases in the center of Sri Lanka. Because of the floods a few helicopters where on missions but we saw most of them. The road to the second base was very bad and there were a lot of floodings. At 23.00 we arrived at our hotel in Colombo…. All very tired. Today was great, the fighter base! More later .
Hingarukgoda in the morning,
1 A few helicopters from this base were gone but still we some where home. B.212
2 Bell 206
3 other helicopters from this base are the Hinds. Not much of them are airworthy…..
4
5
Anuradhapura in the afternoon;
6 The Bells brought in some flood victems
7 After the drop off near the tower they fly to there refeuling/parting spot
8
9 The Mils are based here and the crew was friendly as always to take one out
10 As they did with the Mi.24
