The Royal Thai Air Force received the initial batch of 6 JAS39 Gripen jets at RTAFB Surat Thani when these jets arrived at 19.30 local time(10.30UTC) on the 22nd February.Thses jets will replace the last surviving F-5B and 11 of the RTAF's F-5E jets acquired in the 1970s.
701 Squadron of Wing 7 will be the operating unit.
