The CP Air thread in the Praethuis forum made me dig out my scan collection of those beautiful orange/metal DC-10's.
Over the years they visited Schiphol in a variety of schemes and company names. From CP Air via Canadian Pacific to Canadian Airlines.
Here are some pics of those orange babies.
Classic CP Air but with one of the three leased United DC-10's. Schiphol 28-09-1986.
Temporary Expo '86 titles on two DC-10's. C-GCPD and N1836U. Schiphol 28-07-1986.
New name Canadian Pacific combined with the orange/metal c/s on C-GCPE. Schiphol 30-04-1986.
Old and new in one picture. C-FCRE and C-GCPC 31-01-1986.
French titles on one side and English titles on the other. May and June 1986.
The orange c/s where still seen in 1988 although with the new Canadian company name. C-GCPC Schiphol 12-05-1988.
Halfway in getting a new identity. C-GCPC on 16-10-1988.
The final result worn by C-GCPJ on 20-02-1989.

Great tribute to the Empress, Rene! From the days where I used to cycle to the airport and everything was new

I can't thank you enough, I was the guy that started the CP Air thread because I had some nostalgic feelings about the Orange birds. I associate one of my best childhood memories with a DC-10 from CP Air.
What a nice set!
Thanks very much for sharing this.

I have those same fond memories when thinking back of those days when my trusted bicycle was my primary transport to the airport. And yes the striking c/s of CP Air had something extra compared to other companies. Similar feelings emerge when thinking of that other orange beauty: Braniff. I used to see them fly by from the classroom window in WP on approach to rwy 27 back in 1979 to '81 (or thereabout). Just a few years before I started spotting
Those were the days!

Re: DC-10 CP Air, Canadian Pacific and Canadian Airlines
Those were the days indeed, for me it was a 1,5 hour drive in the back of the car with my dad going to Schiphol. I could look forward to that trip 2 weeks in advance. Who needs the Efteling when you have Schiphol?
I remember the first time I saw a CP Air DC-10 take off. Must have been 5-6 years old. Totally godsmacked by it's awesome color I decided there and then I would become a pilot too......and guess what ?
Thanks again for the memories.
Hope other people can also contribute some pics in this thread. Especially pics with the orange ones.
