Terrible news!
Good to see that you are OK, though.

Mr Takeda Takashi (a friend of Scramble) lives in Sendai, I believe.
A Kadena F-15 shot that he made was in Scramble's "dustpan& brush" in 2001.
I hope that he is physically safe, but with his city destroyed it must be an unimaginably horrible day for him.

MINDEF said 28 aircrfafts(18 F-2Bs and U-125 etc.) at JASDF Matsushima was "washed" by Tsunami.

I think they are 18*F-2Bs, 5*T-4s, 2 U-125As and 3 UH-60Js.
It is lucky that 7*T-4s of the Blue Impulse were at Tsuiki A.B. at that time, because they had a ceremony flight for the opening of Kyushu-Shinkansen.(But the ceremony was cancelled)

On 11 Mar. 2011, (maybe all of) flyable aircrafts at JASDF Tsuiki moved to Nyutabaru, to avoid the Tsunami attack.

I think this photo of Matsushima says it all............ I can only imagine what happened when the wave hit the heavily populated low area surrounding Sendai. So many lifes have been lost that afternoon.......

I think it is safe to say that most if not all of the aircraft involved at Matsushima will have to be declared write offs. Salt water corrosion, being slammed into buildings like that, etc. 18 F-2B's, that is about half of some 36 built....
But what are we moaning about when so many thousands lost their lives and many more injured.

During one of the CNN broadcasts, a Japanese C-12 was seen in the rubble. They didn't mention the airport, but I guess it's Matsushima.

Maybe it was a JGSDF LR-2 at Sendai Airport.
There seems that 3 military a/cs were at JAMCO maintenance company at Sendai airport
and washed.
