Airbus announces that Iberia has signed an MOU for 8x A330-300. These will replace the oldest A340-300 in the fleet (if the order gets firmed of course). More on on the Airbus press site.

Re: Orders thread 2011
In additional to the above order, HNA Group airline Hong Kong Airlines (HX/CRK), has signed an MoU with Boeing for 6 B777Fs, 30 B787-9s, and 2 B787-8 VIPs.
The order still has to be finalised, but as with all orders from Chinese airlines, it should just be a matter of time.

Re: Orders thread 2011
Leasingcompany ILFC signed a MoU with Airbus for 100 A320neo family aircraft.
75 A320neo
25 A321neo
This makes ILFC the first customer to order the A321neo variant.
60 of the ordered aircraft will be powered with the P&W PurePower PW1100G which makes ILFC the first customer to make an engine selection as well.

Unfortunately part of the deal includes a termination of 10 A380 aircraft that ILFC has on order.

Re: Orders thread 2011
Great week for both the main manufacturers!!
Cathay Pacific Airways (CX/CPA) has purchased 15 A330-300s from Airbus, and 10 B777-300ERs from Boeing.
The carrier is in talks for an additional 14 aircraft (type unknown), and also signed a deal with ILFC to take an extra 2 A350-900s on lease.

The order announcements keep on rolling in:
Aeroflot Russian Airlines (SU/AFL), has announced an order for 6 B777-300ERs and 2 B777-200ERs.
This order had previously been listed by Boeing as being for an unidentified customer.

Re: Orders thread 2011
I assume this to firm up (part of) the 16 plane preliminary order Aeroflot and Boeing announced in December.

Asian Aerospace in Hong Kong....
IBERIA
International Airlines Group has reached agreement with Airbus to purchase 8 A330-300, and take out options for up to 8 A330 family aircraft, for Iberia (IB)'s long-haul fleet. The A330, which will be delivered between autumn 2012 and spring 2014, will replace up to 16 A340 family aircraft. The new aircraft will be more cost effective to operate as they are around 15% more fuel efficient than the aircraft that they replace. They also have an improved environmental performance. The aircraft can be easily assimilated into IB's existing long-haul fleet, reducing the need for additional crew training and maintenance costs. With the new aircraft and options, IAG will have the flexibility to determine the overall size of IB's long-haul fleet and capacity in future. IB's current long-haul fleet consists of 18 A340-300 and 17 A340-600 aircraft. (Airbus Newsletter & AirTransportNews & AéroContact & Just4airlines, March07th / AviTrader,March08th 2011).

I don't want to be criticizing, but that's already been mentioned, twice.YS11 wrote:International Airlines Group has reached agreement with Airbus to purchase 8 A330-300, and take out options for up to 8 A330 family aircraft, for Iberia (IB)'s long-haul fleet. Re: Orders thread 2011
Lufthansa (LH/DLH), has announced that they have received board approval for an order of 25 A320neo, 5 A321neo, and 5 B777Fs.
The B777Fs will obviously be operated by Lufthansa Cargo, and is a new type for the company.
