Re: Libya - OPERATION ODYSSEY DAWN - Coalition overview
Was quite surprised to see the Americans using B-2's as I thought they only had local forces deployed.
Interesting

Dennis, if you have the individual a/c callsigns you'll make the Libyan spotter community ever so happy, thanks!

Any information on the Norwegian Vipers? I managed to identify one of them as "674" from photos taken by Norwegian news papers as they left Bodø yesterday, but Id love to find out which other airframes are taking part in the operation.

Are you sure? Various forums and websites on the web mention FURY23 Flt as the B-2 callsigns.
To all. I've updated the list on the first page. keep on posting.

Re: Libya - OPERATION ODYSSEY DAWN - Coalition overview
Hi,
First: great overview so far. I am compiling an overview for the upcoming edition of Scramble. Some additions first:
91-0331/LN F-15E 494th FS
96-0201/LN F-15E 492nd FS
91-0361/SP F-16CJ 480th FS
91-0407/SP F-16CJ 480th FS

166895/NL-541 EA-18G VAQ-139
166898/NL-544 EA-18G VAQ-139
Further, there seems to be an information stop from Italy. I cannot image that with all the activity going on, no one has taken any picture at Aviano, Deci, Goia, Trapani etc. So, Italian aviation friends; please share some!

Re: Libya - OPERATION ODYSSEY DAWN - Coalition overview
Just one more thing: the title says ODYSSEY DAWN. This refers to thhe american part of the operation. Overall name seems to be "Coalition of the Willing", with the following countries having their own name:
USA: Odyssey Dawn
UK: Operation Ellamy
France: Opération Harmattan
Canada:Joint Task Force Libeccio (also mentioned as operation Mobile)

Re: Libya - UN no-fly zone - Coalition overview
Could it be that the B-2's had two callsigns in the same time:
A callsign during the transfer and a tactical callsign for air-to-air?
The RAF uses the same system RRR.... and a local callsign on air-to-air frequenties.
