Decimomannu, 6-8 april 2011 (UAE AF)

Post by r.e.hendriks »

Hi,

Last week I visited Decimomannu to see the UAE AF F-16s and Mirage 2000s.
Weather was great, and it was very rare to see these fully armed fighters.

Here is a few shots, more than 120 shots can be found at my website: http://www.fly-by.nl

Image
UAE F-16E during take off on the 7th.

Image
Spanish C-212 visiting on the 6th.

Image
Italian MB.339CD short final on the 7th.

Image
UAE F-16E landing on the 7th.

Image
Italian MB.339A turning final on the 7th.

Image
Spanish EF-18A+ turning final on the 7th.

Image
RNLAF F-16AM landing in the evening sun on the 8th.

Hope you like these....

Best regards,
Rob Hendriks

it would be better not to post pictures of inside base (especially in this period) for respect of the people who will come after you. In Italy is forbidden to take pictures towards base and this moves italian police to come outside and check other people.

If you were inside base and had the permission, sorry, my mistake.

Hi all,

There is no infrastructure visible on the photo's I posted here, so I don't see the problem.

Here a few more shots taken at this beautiful airbase.

yes Rob, you're absolutly right, this is the right way to tell the italian people to f..k off.
What do they know about taking pictures at their air bases,
what do they know about the laws in their country and
what do they know about agreements with Carabinieri and the base security.
They all talk rubbish - the important thing is, YOU have your pictures and YOU can show them to the others.

If anybody is still in doubt, this was sarcasm.
Welcome to the world of selfish and ignorant behaviour.
Real great attitude, congratulations - you will go far with that.

One of the best examples how to do it NOT.
It really doesn't matter if YOU see a problem - in Italy it is forbidden to take pictures into military installations, end of the story.
Why do you think that hardly any italian shows any pictures of OOD yet?

I see 13 GREATH photos and only 2 are taken on the ground...!
If you knew Rob, he is'nt selfish at all and 'cause of his job he'll be able to deal with what is or isn't a problem.. So lower the tone, will you!

Enjoy the wonderfull photo's, I do..

this answer shows that you don't get the point.
I'm not talking about the pictures - they're great.
I'm talking about the "after me the deluge" behaviour.
When I was in Decimomannu when the Israelians were there, we were approached by the Base Security NOT to publish any pictures before the end of the exercise.
The security was complaining that there were pictures in the net before the exercise was over.
And it doesn't matter if HE will be able to deal with any problem - with those pictures HE spoils it for others.

That was my point - and if you (or others) don't get that - sorry, it just emphazises the prejudices about the behaviour of some dutch people.

Let's end the discussion with that. We've been through all this before and there will never be concensus. It is in everyone's interest to act responsibly, but it is also a wise thing to assume a poster of photos has given it some thought.
Finally, do not forget it is a basic board rule not to complain about others' posts in a topic. While we tolerate a breach of that rule once again, we strongly advise anyone in such case to send the poster a private message and ask why, in stead of publicly shouting "you should not".
