Hello all,
Heads up for 12x 75FS A-10's back to CONUS. (Departed Kandahar this afternoon)
Most probably they will be back at LPLA in one or two days from now.
Cheers, Jan.

Re: Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) - 2011 MIL
Sorry, but I don't understand that a Sramble Mod (his name is unknown to me) arbitrary removed the link to first-hand Lajes photo info, exclusively posted on my Warthog News blog and probably very interesting for at least some Scramble users. On the contrary, Scramble should be happy to get such important posts. So I think, links are the salt of the internet and the world wide web. And it's not necessary to "promote" my well-established blog on Sramble.
Okay, then let me post again the recent 74th EFS A-10C arrivals at Lajes (provided by Warthog News contributor André Inácio from Portugal):
1st formation, arrived on Tuesday about 1556 (local time) as 'Trend 11-15'
78-0674, 78-0688, 82-0660, 81-0990, 81-0947
2nd formation, arrived on Tuesday about 1609 (local time) as 'Trend 21-26'
80-0228, 80-0223, 78-0600, 79-0179, 80-0272, 80-0277
3rd formation, arrived on Wednesday about 1542 (local time) as 'Trend 31-36'
80-0144, 80-0189, 79-0135, 79-0189, 79-0138, 79-0172
Secondly: In case of the returning 75th EFS "Hogs" please expext only ten jets for stopover at Lajes!
According to a personal contact from the United States, only ten of the twelve remaining A-10Cs from the 75th EFS have left Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, in two batches. They are now on their way back home to Moody AFB Georgia, expect for a stopover at Lajes Field, Azores. Two of the 75th EFS aircraft are still on place at Kandahar for use by the 74th EFS which arrived with 17 jets instead of 18 as originally planned (like the 18 A-10Cs which were originally deployed with the 75th EFS in September 2010). Probably one of the 74th EFS jets, scheduled for the recent ferry flight, was broken somewhere.
If I get all serial numbers of the ten returning "Hogs", I can easily identify the two remainders.
For additional detailed aircraft info please check my blog by trying Google for Warthog News.
And I'm looking forward for all new A-10C movements at Lajes.

Re: Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) - 2011 MIL
Maybe that ten A-10Cs of the 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, returning from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, are still delayed at Al Udeid AB, Qatar, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, due to a tanker lack after starting Libya combat operations. Some days ago from a personal contact from the United States I got the following e-mail: Delayed in Qatar. No tankers because of Libya.
Hope they will return home soon and avoid any Libya combat operation.
Any new related info?

Re: Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) - 2011 MIL
On their way back home from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, ten 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron A-10Cs arrived at Lajes Field, Azores, for their last stopover enroute to CONUS. They arrived in two waves.
First batch (in order of serial numbers):
78-0596, 75th Fighter Squadron
79-0159, 75th Fighter Squadron
79-0206, 75th Fighter Squadron
79-0223 (marked 23 FG as 23rd Fighter Group flagship)
80-0180 (marked 476th FG as 476th Fighter Group flagship
Second batch (in order of serial numbers):
80-0172, 75th Fighter Squadron
80-0208, 75th Fighter Squadron
80-0259, 75th Fighter Squadron
80-0282, 75th Fighter Squadron
81-0995, 75th Fighter Squadron
But only nine of them made their final trip across the Atlantic. A-10C 80-0208 has been left behind at Lajes to join the "downed" A-10C 78-0600 from the 74th EFS. The final destination of both aircraft is still unknown to me - either CONUS or Kandahar Airfield.
On the other hand, this very important latest Lajes log is a proof that A-10Cs 79-0139 and 81-0953, both originally deployed with the 75th EFS, are still at Kandahar Airfield to support the 74th EFS which arrived only with 16 aircraft.

BTW: Any info about the departure of A-10Cs 80-0208 and 78-0600 is wanted!
