After a visit to Trenton (museum), I decided to have a small look at the ATESS Mountain View field (16th of October). A great location to spot wrecks and relics, I was told (thanks Melchior ).After a 20 min drive from Trenton I arrived at the perimeters of this very quite field. This Saturday, the Royal Canadian Air Cadets were flying with tow gliders and one tow.
I decided to try to enter the airbase and give myself a self guided tour. I went to the gate, and mentioned I came for the gliders. The guard probably tought I had an appointment and let me pass. As the aircraft in the hangars are not possible to spot from outside, I started to check these very very old buildings. Google Earth showed a couple of building, but only two were left. When I checked both hangars I did a walk along the flightine.
I photographed every wreck/relic, and noted that nobody cared what this strang person with his camera was doing here, so I decided to walk to the Air Cadets to chit chat a little bit with them. These very friendly people explained me the purpose of their cadets programme and afterwards they even invited me for a flight in one of their gliders. A wonderful experience, as my flying experience up till then was only the airlines, some helicopters, military transport aircraft and piston engind aircraft. This time, I went up in the air without an engine . A wonderful flight over the swaps and lakes, something I will not forget. But as I came for spotting, I noted everything I saw and went further for the next location of the day (Borden). The following was noted:

Re: Mountain View - Ontario - 2010 MIL
Just come across your posting and a few comments if I may...
The CT-114's are a nightmare, some have up to three different identities.....they interchange the tail with the fuselage very frequently, and even the wings, of which some have the serial under them as well
CL-41 CT-114 114168 Canada ATESS Mountain View wfu near gate
114168 has been preserved at Downsview Museum in Toronto for quite a few years now...it is marked as '114156'
This one could be 114068
CL-41 CT-114 114148 Canada ATESS Mountain View wfu in hangar
..with tail of 114172
CL-41 CT-114 114003 Canada ATESS Mountain View wfu near gate, in two pieces
This is preserved at Victoria, BC...could be 114005 or 114033(with tail of 114143)
Schweizer SGS 2-33 C-GWVC Canada Royal Canadian Air Cadets act
Should be C-GWCV
Schweizer SGS 2-33 CF-ALO Canada Royal Canadian Air Cadets act
Does not exist,,could it be CF-ACL
Schweizer SGS 2-33 C-_YWL Canada Royal Canadian Air Cadets act
Is C-FYWL
I also spotted two more CF-116D's near the gate, although both were not identified by me. One was in two pieces, the other was fully coccooned.
I have three which you did not note...116807, 116824 & 116831
Hope this helps
Alexis
