Today saw the final flight of Nimrod R1 XV249. Sadly neither the light nor the flight plan were as kind to us as yesterday.
Taxying onto the runway for the final time

Returning across the Waddington overhead to teardrop, giving one of the based Islanders time to land
On finals for runway 20 - we were expecting this to be the first of several circuits:
Sadly, it wasn't to be, and she landed off that approach, leaving this as the shot of her clearing the hedge for the last time in her final few seconds of flight under her own power:
Now there's just XW664 left flying, so we have a short while to wait until she too returns to roost for the final time.
