to all the people with their negative vibes
I wasn't there but the pics that I saw could only be made at a well organized event...

I would have thanked EVERYONE involved in the Open Days personally if I only had had the time between photo's... It was certainly more, bigger and better than I expected. I know of a lot of spoilt spotters that took Sunday off to do other things (hunting for wrecks and relics, for instance, or strolling along Izmir Boulevard, or gaze at the hundreds or thousands of pictures they took) because they got from the spottersday and the first day of the airshow what they needed and could afford to wait for departure day. How's that for perfect organisation? It was a major effort on the part of the THK, and I thorougly enjoyed the show, the spotter's days and the relaxed and friendly way we were received in Turkey. Kudos!

Everybody is talking about jealousy, but maybe it has more to do with the attitude the guy shows? At least, that's it for me. I don't know how much involved Eric was or wasn't, so i can't comment on that. I DO know he announced things on this forum before the show that didn't turn out to be true. How much of that is his "fault"? I simply don't know.
It is interesting to see that apparently there are two opinions; either you hate the guy or you worship him.... Most opinions will be formed on how he communicates, since many people haven't met him in person and can only judge by what they read from him.
Either way, I was very happy with the air show and spotters day. Of course there are always things that could have been better, but all in all it was definately worth travelling to Turkey for in my opinion!
Whoever was responsible for the organisation: thanks!

Re: A big thank you from Turkey to all spotters!
I did have 4 super days in Izmir and can only thank everybody who did help to make this such a big succes, so also Eric .
About the T-37's & T-38's, I think that all the trainers parked for the shelters, where there parked especially for us spotters and the way they were standing there did give some great photo possibilities. (And about numbers, in the 4 days I did photograph 6 x SF-260, 6 x T-37 & 7 x T-38, 7 x KT-1 & 4 x T-41, so not a bad score for the THK trainers)
I'm know for my sometimes "peppery" comments but for this show I can't come up with a negative one, it was just great.
Kind regards,
Pieter

Erik, it is not a really stupid discussion, I was very dissapointed about the quality of the plastic garden furniture at the VVIP area.
They were easy to break
