REQ: spotting Chicago/Detroit - locations+tips? Aug'11

Coming summer I will be in the Chicago-Detroit area the first three weeks of August. I would like to take the opportunity to do some plane spotting when I am there. My initial "target areas" will be Chicago (O'Hare, maybe also Midway) and Detroit (Metropolitan Airport, maybe Willow Run but seems a bit less interesting). Are there any people around on the forum that can indicate some nice spotting opportunities there? Things to took out for? Things to pay attention to? ...?

Any information on Chicago and Detroit will be appreciated.

I've been to Detroit in 2009. There is a good spotting-point on/in a parking garage just outside the McNamara terminal. You really can't miss it.

A good spot is also located between the days inn hotel and the Alamo/National rental car facility.
