F-4 Phantom for Soesterberg
Good day!
Our organization has disassembled an F-4 Phantom for the NLAF Museum at Soesterberg recently. The Phantom is on its way from Tucson (AMARG at Davis-Monthan AFB) even as we speak.
I would like to ask that when it arrives at the museum, that one of the members take a few fictures of it for our files.
This would be very much appreciated.
On another note, can the members assist us in locating any museums in Europe that have Cold War displays.
A museum that we work with has one of the last Pembroke C(PR)1 aircraft that flew in support of OPERATION HALLMARK.
The museum would like to trade this and another Pembroke (ex-Belgian) and a container of parts for something interesting.

At Łodz there is an old museum which is closed now.
I do not have a website to them because I think it does not exist, however it is located at Lublinek Airport

to continue my previous post, these are museum in Poland
Like I said the museum at Łodz is closed, I do not know who the owner is of the aircraft but the area which used to be the museum is now used by the local areoclub. Contacting them or else authorities of Lublinek airport will be able to tell you who the owner is if any specific owner exists even. (This is unsure)

Can you imagine, and Mi6 in sovjet colours at the NLAF museum?? Hehe, maybe that would be to much, but I think some of these mig's or Su's would fit very good aswell

The fuselage and wings left Tucson this Monday (June 20) on two trucks on their way to the Houston docks. A 40 foot container with the smaller parts will leave early next week.
I don't have ship details yet.
As soon as I have sailing details and arrival dates, I will pass that information along.

I received some nice updates and piccies from a relation who organised this transport. I can add some shipping details for the Phantom
Serial: 64-0275/GA
It is loaded onto the Rickmers Seoul V.304 to Antwerp. This one has ETA July 18th.

A real nice story about this aircraft is published in Full-Stop magazine of the Aviation Group leeuwarden.
It seems to be a Mig killerL 12.09.1972 a Mig21 with AIM9E and 20mm M61A1, flying with 35TFS from Korat ,Thailand, but a/c from 34 TFS, callsign finch01.
A real nice story about this aircraft is published in Full-Stop magazine of the Aviation Group leeuwarden.

After Google-ing about the F-4E and T-37 for MLM subjects, I also found out that the MLM has managed to get hold on to CT-114 Tutor, former CAF. Nice news I would say. But what I do not understand is, what this bird has to do with the Dutch military aviation history! Can any one please explain? Did the KLu/NATO pilot training/education use CAF CT-114 during a particulair periode perhaps? I did not know that actually... but it would make it more logical.

In the early seventies KLu student pilots were sent to Canada for flying training.
Don't have the relevant books within reach at the moment, but if I recall correctly the Beechcraft CT-134 Musketeer was used at first for primary training, succesful students progressing on to the CT-114 Tutor.
The KLu stopped sending pilots to Canada because of the high wash-out rate. If my memory serves me right ALL tests, whether theoritical or "practice", had to passed in a single go as "satisfactorily". Or only ONE mistake was allowed, no more.
This meant that possible future very succesful fighter jockeys could be thrown off the course even if they had a bad day making some minor mistakes.
The Americans were/are more tolerant to this back then.
