Hmmm I thought this "well known man" has at least 1090mm in his camera bag. But anyways, I think the shots will look great!Piet Luijken wrote:Maybe you can introduce him to the wonders of tele objectives?

And exactly the reason why participants to the Air to Air Academy at Zoersel were required to duct tape their lenses to their cameras!frank kramer wrote: That is "one small step for mankind, but one GIANT hole for a Canon"

Thanks Hans ! This is what the D-103 looked like from my position at the hill....Hans Rolink wrote:Watching the proceedings at Marnerwaard during Falcon Autumn, I came across this well known guy

Did you have to do any cropping to get the photo to look like as it is shown ? The distance from your position to the Chinook was about 410 meters (check Google Earth's measurement tool), while I was about 50 meters away.
Cheers,
Iwan

Yes, I had to do some. I arrived late, coming from Leeuwarden to see off the Finnish Hawks.
When I got the chance, I walked into the field taking care not to advance too much for fear of entering a security zone and endangering the operations.
All shots were taken with a 300 mm 4.0 prime lens and cropped for about 75%. See below for the original uncropped image.
Amazing what a good lens can do for you!
Hans.

Hi,
Jimmy and Nanou doing a "photo-journalist training" at GLV-5 (28-10-2011) for their future Afghanistan Mission.
Note that the Apache gun is pointed at them!

Very nice Johan. I miss our group photo?
Here are some of mine:
1. Nanou kneels down for the great mighty Chinook! Picture is taken at 400mm so it looks like he's very close but still at safe distance.
2. On another forum, Jim writes that the brown-out was not too bad. Well...

Hi Ben...
I did not edit all my photo's yet, so the group-photo is a little late.
But... here it is!
