Incident: KLM Cityhopper F70 at Amsterdam on Jan 21st 2012, takeoff with runway unclear

A KLM Cityhopper Fokker 70, registration PH-KZI performing flight WA-1909/KL-1909 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Hanover (Germany), took off from Amsterdam's runway 24 at 13:28L (12:28Z) although a wild life control vehicle was within the runway protected zone. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Hanover.

The Dutch Onderzoeksraad (Dutch Safety Board DSB) reported, that another aircraft had been cleared to cross the runway at taxiway S2 (about 1800 meters/5900 feet down the runway). After the aircraft had vacated the runway the Fokker 70 was cleared for takeoff from runway 24. The airport's Runway Incursion Alerting System Schiphol (RIASS) alerted the controller to a conflict on the runway with a vehicle of the airport's wild life control. After a visual scan of the runway the controller decided to let the takeoff continue. The DSB have initiated an investigation stating there was no risk of a collision.

Yesterdag I read this article also. It happens more frequent that a plane is crossing RW 24at S 2 to/from the cargo stands prior to a departure ? Controller observation to let the departue continue to depart according to protocol ? Normally a wild life control vehicle is standing alongside a runway but never too close for comfort though. Where is the RIASS looking for ? Never heard of that system before. Anyone can clarify ?

Actual threat to departing or arriving aircraft by other aircraft or vehicle on the runway. Info here. System in use since several years, recently officially inaugurated after thorough evaluation.

Ik zie op flightradar24 dat de KL685 (PH-BFT) net voorbij Ierland is omgedraaid en nu bezig is met de landing op runway 36R. Iemand enig idee wat de reden is?

Nog niet geheel duidelijk.. Opvallend is wel dat hij als 747-400 niet boven FL 320 is uitgekomen nabij oceanic entry point en dat hij een aardige dip heeft in speed voordat hij omdraaide en toen vrij snel 100 kts meer aan snelheid had.

VOS 1 verklaart maar remmen temps. na landing waren binnen range en geen blown tyres. Maar wel dus overweight landing..
Lijkt me dus niet dat hij een fuel burn op de terugweg heeft kunnen doen.

Zou kunnen duiden volgens mijn bescheiden mening op pressure probleem of engine shutdown in flight ??

We zullen het mogelijk later morgen lezen.
