My first TIGER meet
A late Tiger Meet post from my side. Hopefully still worth a look
This was my first trip with my new Nikon D800, which I received the same day I traveled up to Ørland. A mix of weather, some which made it tricky but which made for some interesting shots. Very enjoyable first outing with my new baby
Critique welcome
The day before the spotterday, from south of the runway. Soon after it was Wet Wet Wet:
Not a bad spot really:
One of two specially painted Turks:
Spotters Day:
Lovely conditions as this came in:
First aircraft to depart were the Awacs and the two Stratotankers:
Arrivals at the taxiway in gorgeous light:
Close to the action:
Tiger spirit by the Belgians:
Showing off by folding the wings while taxiing past the spotters:
The German Tonka crews knows how to please the photographers:
Low angle lying flat in the grass:
Taken from a moving bus:
Afternoon launch was tricky as the sun had moved around:
Made for different shots though:
One of my favorites from the day:
Awacs in the morning:
Snowy mountains even in June:
Hornet-Power:
Hope you liked them - Throw a comment if you did (throw one if you didnt too and tell me why )
Egon

Like them indeed! Love the back-lit shots, very dramatic with this nice atmosphere!
Maybe they are a tad too heavy on the saturation... although actually that is also a nice touch... The first I would like to see a bit less saturated.

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

I really like the special lighted shots with the Rafale as my personal favorite.

Re: My first TIGER meet
Thanks! I wondered the same thing, but it was like that on landing the previous day as well, so probably normal.intruder wrote:indeed very nice pictures. at the pic (6) of the stratotanker, that refueling basket istn't retracted as it should be istn't it?

Re: My first TIGER meet
Nice pics! I have only one gripe, I can't see myself in one of the images The AWACS with the fog bank on top of it was indeed a WOW moment. Nice moody light on the Gripen and Hornet taxi shot.
About the refuelling basket, that is perfectly normal. The French do this all the time. It is the only way of having a KC-135 refuel types like the Tornado or Rafale which do not have a boom receptacle. The short hose and drogue must be attached prior to the flight and removed if required afterwards.
Hans.

Re: My first TIGER meet
You're a wizzard with the light. Very well done. Especially on taxi shots . Love 'm all. Indeed maybe a tiny bit too much on the saturation but I could not do it better myself. Got more?

As a non-photographer, nice photos except for the numbers 6, 13, 16 and 17 which look ''fake'' to me.
