Still testing my new D300s.. Still not very satisfied.. Probably one of the biggest issue will be the fact i'm still using the old 'analog' 70-300!

Any tips or advices about the camera are moren than welcome.. C&C about the pics also offcourse..

RAW only.. Editing is with Lightroom.. Not much actually.. playing a bit with the levels, contrast, denoise and sharpen a tiny bit.. Nothing more! The camera is superb.. Very accurate and fast, but still the images maintain blurry en sometimes way of focus.. Also i see too many noise mostly in the lighter area's, shot's taken at 200 iso.. This camera should be "free'" of noise under the 800 iso.. I'm gonna test the body in a short period of time with a Nikkor 70-200 VRII 2.8, If that give's the same result.. I eat the d**n thing..

Perhaps you have a low shutterspeed? by the judge of the Herc that's a reason why it's unsharp. There is almost no contrast in your pictures also. Never put the lens wide open, take it a few steps down to f9 ~ f11 that would inprove your sharpness. Also try to underexpose a little bit this will improve your handling in raw..

Yes, it has to do with your camera settings. The first picture you use a shutter speed of 1/640 in the second photo you use a shutterspeed of 1/800 you can see that this picture is sharper already. Try to keep your shutter speed not lower than 1/1000 or even 1/1250.

Aperture did not went below 6.3.. Higher is sharper, but the weather didn't played along for that actually.. wanted to keep my shutterspeed high also! Used f8 and also f11, but didn't helped really.. I will post some when i've tried the other lens..

I also have a Nikon D300s, look on the net for the pdf-file "Nikon D300s Setup Guide", this guide will give you different setups, like Landscape, Portrait or Sports and Action photography, you can program it in to your camera and quit sure that the setup for "Sports and Action photography" is the one you will like for aviation purposes... try (http://www.outthereimages.com/images/D3 ... _Guide.pdf)
I did... and i'm happy with it, off-course some settings I changed to my own lickings!

i suggest you try this:
Have a pro match the new camera with your lens. Think these might be off by one or two steps. Fine tuning.....
or / and
if the lens is IS / VR, have that stabilizer unit checked (also).
