Trenton CFB (CYTR/YTR) - 2012

After my flight into Toronto Intl, I picked up my rental car and drove the easy route eastbound to Trenton. I arrived here around half past three and settled at spot 5 for all arrivals. After a Herc arrived I switched to the other side to catch the sun at the other side of the runway extension. Around five, I drove to the other side, spot 2 and 3, to read the numbers on the apron, very easy to do. After that it was time for a pizza. However, just after ordering I heard an inbound Herc so scrambled back to spot 5 to catch it while landing. Later, I heard an inbound CC-177 but I was just too late. I spent the night a Bayside Motel, close to base. The next day, I read the numbers on the apron from spot 2 and 3, quite difficult while facing the sun. A CC177 was departing so I moved to spot 5 to catch it while departing from rwy06, however it took off from rwy 24 when I arrived. The CH-146 did compass check in front of spot 6, the Polaris also took off from rwy24, while all hercs departed from 06. For all, spot 6 is really good for photography but bring a ladder or a sturdy car. At noon, I quickly made my round through the museum near spot 2 and drove back to Toronto for my flight homebound.

CT-114 144007 is w/o on 3apr78 so misread? I have seen 114097 at that spot one week earlier.

Again, I had a trip to Toronto. The weather forecasts were good, despite the showers in the previous days, so I decided to visit Trenton one more time. Upon arrival at spot 5 a C17 and a Herc were doing circuits, while a Bell was ready to do the same. Quite impressive were the overshoots over the airfield from the north by a quick turn in to final for a touch and go, made by both the Herc as the C17. After three o'clock, I walked further north passing the railroad for a better sun position. after five, I drove to the other side, spot 3 to read all serials. Thereafter, with the open base policy in place, I drove onto the base at the unmanned west entry point to read all aircraft at the ATESS ramps. The next day I stayed till one o'clock before I drove back to Toronto. Both days were sunny and good in movements. When I drove onto the Highway 401 I suddenly saw a F-5 on a pole so I had to return to get this one as well .

There are no guards at the gates when the green light is on at the lights next to the gate. Ypu can enter and drive around the perimetered area. This eay you can read the ATESS aircraft whixh are within fenced off areas themselves.
