Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting a Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 instead of my 300/4 for air shows. However, the additional weight confuses me a bit. So far, I didn't use any monopod at all, but with the lens alone weighting 3kg this might become necessary. And I'm not sure whether I'll need the 2.8 at all, cause normally shots are from aperture 5.6 to 8...
So, does anyone of you use a 300/2.8 and what's the benefit of this lens in comparison to the 300/4?
Regards,
g.

Re: Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 for airshows?
I have the VRII version, fantastic lens, easily handheld IMHO, stellar optics. I have a 200-400 as well, but the 300/2,8 is superior. AF aquisition is far better than the 300/F4. Get one if you can
D5 + Nikkors 14/2.8 up to 400/2.8
