Davis Monthan, June 1988. A 4-hour AMARC-trip always started with a ride down the operational flightlines of DM.

Four 81st F.S. A-10C's in the overhead pattern followed by a gear up, low approach. Soon this will be history, when the last Hogs will be withdrawn from Europe to be retired together with 102 other USAF A-10's (1/3rd off the fleet)

In my live I got just one day to photograph the mighty A-10. Thanks GRAS for that!
Sadly they will leave Europe tomorrow.

Re: Tribute to the A-10 'Warthog'
Strange feeling, expecting not to see them anymore. One of the first aircraft types I remember seeing 30 years ago. Luckily I visited Spang a few times last year and got to see them at the GRAS spotter event.
Now here some older ones :
1. Twenthe airshow 1987.
2. Exercise CK-01 in Bulgaria 2001
3. 81FS commander during the same exercise
4. And a nice line-up during CK-02 at St.Dizier in France.
MORE HERE : http://www.airfighters.com/photosearch. ... rg=4&lim=3
They surely will be missed ...
