Spottersday and Open day Wittmund 28/29 June 2013

Today a few updates were made on Phantom-Pharewell site.
One is, that there is no planed flying during the Spottersday on friday afternoon.

Es findet kein geplanter Flugbetrieb am Spottertag statt.

This means there are no operational flying activities going on. There are displays scheduled though, on both the Friday and the Saturday.

Good morning, one thing I have not yet clear but on Thursday there will be flights of F4? I still do not understand. At first there was talk of a patrol. Now I knew that Wednesday will be the last day of the flight to the F4. Do clarity

Based on info available now;
- NO F-4F flights on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- arrival of visitors on Thursday and Friday morning
- NO flights at all on Friday afternoon

weather wise, i looked at 2 sites, wetter.de and wunderground.com.
look at those 2 and for both days, and you still won't know the weather for those days...

weather wise, i looked at 2 sites, wetter.de and wunderground.com.
look at those 2 and for both days, and you still won't know the weather for those days...

I would trust Wetter.de. Wunderground are a bunch of tossers. Just my experience.

I would try to hit the P for spotter at some 500 m from the main gate along the B210. No hassles with buses and such.
The Blucher Barracks thing is especially intended for motor bike riders.

Beautiful girls will be there forever, beautiful flying F-4's are a dying breed. Even when it pours I will go to Wittmund! And what about those German girls in lederhosen?

I know, but we had planned for Thursday and Friday ... when the F4 will not fly. When there was the farewell to F104 in Pratica di Mare, the F104 made us dream

For those going on saturday, please take a baseball-bat of gummi bat along. Peace-activists want to stage a large protest at around 09.30, they want to form a human chain around the airbase. They expect thousands of protestors. But I can't imagine that enough protestors show up to do that.

For those going on the Friday: at 10.45 hrs local "Die Bunte" Phantom flown by WTD 61 will land at Wittmund.

it says:
- Der Zutritt zum Flugplatz ist nur mit den Shuttlebussen erlaubt.
- Ein Zutritt zu Fuss oder mit einen Kraftfahrzeug ist nicht möglich.
- Sie benötigen ihre Registrierungsbestätigung und ihren Ausweis um zu den Bussen zusteigen zu können.

Do someone know if it is possible to park near the fence on Thursday and Friday, or are all roads arround the base closed?
Is it possible to photograph the arrivals next Thursday and Friday morning outside of the base??

Hi,

according to the official website surrounding roads are closed, starting tomorrow. All traffic is diverted to 5 parkingspots. From there you must use the shuttles. You and 129.999 other visitors which are expected to visit the airbase on saturday.
Police will be on high alert due to announced actions from peace protestors.
And the weather forecast is around 90% rain on saturday...
