Nice pictures from the special guys!

I agree with Stefan, just because a normal F4 isn't ugly. My personal opinion is that the German air Force can paint like nobody and I really love the special schemes, but I also hope to shoot just a 'normal' F4 Saturday.

Greetings

38+10 and 38+33 ARE operational colours. Just stay in the Netherlands and watch orange and grey F-16s if you are not pleased with the work of "our" Air Force here.

Thanks, Tigerspoon, for sharing these great images.

Richard,
please handle everybody with respect as Stephan apparently does not like special colored aircraft. Beside this, 38+10 and 39+33 are not operational colours, as they represent the colors the Phantoms have flown in the past, just like the airliners do with their retro jets nowadays.

If I remember correctly, the four 'Phinal Phantom' schemes are of a Norm 72, Norm 81, Norm 90 and the 37+01. The WTD-61 jet is a separate endeavour. Which means you are catching at least two past operational schemes, one current scheme and two special schemes plus whatever other Norm 90 jets are still around.

You're getting a variety rather than just grey, grey, grey..

Well said! After many decades of normal grey Phantoms, two specials are more than welcome.

The WTD61 was on it's ferry flight in it's special livery. Off course, if not going tech., it will arrive on friday morning at Wittmund together with 37+15. At Wittmund you'll only going to see one GREY Phantom during the Fly Out Party; 37+22. The others like shown in "old" operational livery + one special blue/ gold Fly Out livery. There are at least 6 grey Phantoms left, but I don't know if they will put all in the Static Display (i for myself think they'll do)

So as there are a few guys not liking our special fleet, here are a few shots of the two grey ones flying yesterday

Awesome shots!!! I wish I could see those "circus" Phantoms, they look absolutely AWESOME!! ( I never cared much for the dull grey on grey, if only they would have had black radomes!!)

There is one paint scheme missing though, it would have phantastic if they would have pained one more F-4F in the colours of the 20th Fighter Squadron at Holloman AFB.
(Since I believe that that most, if not all, ex-HO F-4Fs are still at AMARG?)

Definately not all of them, since there was one on Jever dump some time ago, don't know if there are any in Germany in 1 piece.

I love the old operational coloured ones, but personally don't prefer any party colours on military aircraft. They're still Phantoms though, so any Phantom is a 1000 times better then no Phantom at all.

There should be 15 of them at AMARG still - I'm not quite sure how many I saw at Holloman in October 2004, two months before they retired.

Definitely agree with you that I normally don't like special colours - I'm not a great fan of the blue/gold F-4F, though I appreciate it being an unique one-off.
However, the WTD-61 is pretty stunning though!

These are the ones still present on AMARG site. Extraction from official AMARG listing of June 2013
