The press guide mentions all the units of the participating aircraft. Could come in useful.
You can find it at http://www.defense.gouv.fr/content/down ... t_2013.pdf

Re: 14 July 2013 - Paris
I just had lunch with someone who has been cleared to photograph the departing aircraft at Evreux. He might be good for the numbers!!

Re: 14 July 2013 - Paris
My pleasure, hope to see you all on Sunday.
Oh, for the people that are in town already on Saturday, on Saturday evening the PdF will make a flyby over Les Invalides..

The practice this afternoon consisted of 45 fixed wing and 26 rotary wing . Unfortunately I only had my wife's camera with me with a 200mm lens . I'll check the pics tomorrow night when I get home and attempt to put a log together . Bit of a bonus at the end of the holiday though

How much mm's are needed from the Place d'Invalids to picture the fly by?

Re: 14 July 2013 - Paris
I use a 100-400mm lense and that is fine for the formations. If you want to picture individual aircraft, then you would need far more (depending on the type of aircraft obviously).
The landing choppers can be done with max 100mm, although it all depends on your style and taste offcourse.
