Dying Hornets - German Army MBB Bo105 above Bavaria
Hi friends,
Now after the publication have been released, I can show you some images of the German Army Aviation MBB Bo105 of Kampfhubschrauberregiment 26 „Franken“ based at Roth/Bavaria. They have adopted with two special painted Bo105 and an Open House Day from the population. Yesterday the units flight operations ended and it will be disbanded after 35 years at the 30.06.2014.
In comparison to the cold temperatures now, we had a really warm summer weather in July. Not the worst, if you fly two hours with the door open.

Gut gemacht, Mathias! Schöne Bilder!!!
I must say however that I am personally not very fond of the 'Red Bull'-like colours....

Picture 2: a dark red helicopter above red-tiled roofs. Not a bad camouflage.
Wonderful report Matthias!

Nice set, like the pictures with the landmarks.
By the way do i see an IPad / tablet as navigational aid on one of the pictures?

Excelent set of pictures Matthias, tnx for sharing!
20 days ago 5 Heer Bolkows, including those colorfull machines, transfered trough Croatia (LDZA-LDSP-...?) in direction of Adriatic sea.
Do you know where was final destination for them? Maybe Kosovo?

Re: Dying Hornets - German Army MBB Bo105 above Bavaria
IPads are regulary used as navigational aid these days, although this does not mean that every Ipad would be approved for this purpose. Fokker Services is a main supplier in the industrie for the so called Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) to the airlines and military.Thijs wrote:By the way do i see an IPad / tablet as navigational aid on one of the pictures?

Thank you, yes I heard about that, but no idea. My information about the special colored Bo´s was that at least one should be preserved in Roth. We will see.Ivan_K wrote:Excelent set of pictures Matthias, tnx for sharing!

Thank you. It´s a tablet used for navigation, but i don´t know if it´s an IPad. It´s very common in aviation, we use a tablet for navigation (and GoPro control ) in our sports plane, too.Thijs wrote:Nice set, like the pictures with the landmarks.

Thank you, that´s indeed the reason why we placed the helo´s in front of the forrest for the "official" farewell picture above Roth city.Stratofreighter wrote:Picture 2: a dark red helicopter above red-tiled roofs. Not a bad camouflage.
