Five Prowlers arrived yesterday as MAZDA 71-75 with KC-10 GOLD 21 (86-0030).

Should be VMAQ-3? (Arrived at Al Udeid on 17 February.) Any idea which squadron they replaced?

AFAIK, VMAQ-3 returned in August 2014 from an unprecedented year-long deployment (having replaced VAQ-138) and was replaced by VMAQ-4. The first half of their deployment was at Bagram, and then they redeployed per the news accounts to Al Udeid in February 2014. (VAQ-138's five-month deployment from May to September 2013 was also reportedly to both Bagram and Al Udeid.) This does not explain the Prowlers seen at Lajes in February, as VMAQ-3 would still be in theater, unless they were on their way home when ordered to turn round???

It appears from the latest spotting report that VAQ-135 will supplement VMAQ-4.

Any comments/clarification appreciated.
