Interesting shots. Especially the bare metal C-130 is a nice catch!
I will be visiting the east of South Africa in January, traveling roughly Johannesburg - Pretoria - Nelspruit/Krugerpark - Manzini (Swaziland) - St. Lucia - Durban - Drakensberg - Johannesburg.
Do you perhaps have any military aviation related tips (W&R & active)?

If you're going to be in the Pretoria/Jo-burg area, Waterkloof and Swartkop are just around the corner..mart wrote:Interesting shots. Especially the bare metal C-130 is a nice catch!

I will be around from the 10th till the 31st.canberra wrote:Mart, when ín January are you there, could probably take you around for a day if you wish. Photos or numbers. Thank you for the kind offer, but taking me round would probably not fall that well with my girlfriend.
I am mainly interested in photos. The SAAF museum at Swartkop is a sure stop, I hope to see some active choppers there as well.
Other than that I hope to visit Rand to see some DC-3's and DC-6.
Last time I was there it was not possible to get a decent shot of anything at Waterkloof AFB, so I not expecting to much of that, although last time I was there there were still a number of C-160's stored in the dirt (I think these have been destroyed?)
A wish is to see one of the Dakota's of the SAAF, I think these are seen every now and then in Durban?
Also I not know if there is anything to be seen around Hoedspruit AFB?
Also a matter of keeping ears and eyes open I guess.
