A Hungarian Gripen slid of the runway this afternoon at Caslav. Crew ejected and ok.
The jet went off at the end of the runway at high speed. The crew of two reportedly is okay after ejecting slightly before the aircraft left the runway. The cause of the crash is being investigated.

JAS 39D 42 has been logged on SBS in the Czech Republic. (Along with singleseaters 31,40 and 41)

For a jet that "slid of the runway", the damage is enormous! The complete cockpit is simply gone....

In fact, it almost looks as if the front of the aircraft was sliced off, as if with a chainsaw... Could it be that the barrier cable had something to do with that?
