4Aviation once again organized a very nice tour to Romania, in which we were all able to take good shots of most of their inventory. I did, however, manage to grab a couple of videos I would like to share, to give an impression of this visit.

Day 2 - Bacau Airbase

Although the PR officer was quite strict compared to other bases, we were able to take some pictures of the IAR-330 and IAR-99. Here is a short video of a IAR-330 Puma flown by the squadron commander




Day 3 - Boboc Airbase

Operating from this airbase are the IAK-52's, IAR-316's and IAR-99 Soims. It is a training airfield which resulted in some nice movements. Seen here are 2 of the 3 IAR-99's and one of the Alouettes.

Day 4 - Mihail Kogalniceanu Airbase

The main reason to go to Romania for me were of course the Lancers. We were lucky to see five of these Cold War era aircraft flying.

The Canadian speaker made more errors on that. On Friday it became really a joke.... the local F16 was according to him Dutch. The speaker of the spottersday on Saturday was even more hilarious. When the Transall landed, he announced that it was supporting the Patrouille de Suisse.

The speaker said a real QRA, was it?

I am still not sure about that.

Norwegian Falcon and Portugese F-16 flew behind a skyvan for photoshoot. Appearantly AL01-02 were there as well.
They stayed low and I heard them sporadicly. However Mode-s wise they were not showing a QRA squawk.
Admittingly that could have changed off course somewhere early during the flight.
