trident juncture Trapani Birgi

Post by corsaro »

Hi I was at Trapani Birgi airport where exercise Trident Juncture is going on.
I had trouble with Italian Authorities that saw me taking shots at the planes there.
So for about 4 hours I was with them explaining and showing the pictures I got.
Anywhay I want to show some photograps that are not so good but I think there are
no other shoot taken outside the base.
Ciao
Alberto

Not to much, I think the trust on me, anyway the photos that I made looks at the planes parked on the base including shelters and other structures.there was a Awacs on the back track in the
parallel runway direct to holding point to take off.
I would like to post but i prefer to avoid possible problems.
I would like to give a greeting to other two spotters ( the only two I saw there ), father and son, coming from Netherland that was there and give my some support with their presence.

It is a shame that during a NATO exercise that is well promoted all over the web and which almost seems like a propaganda event, there are problems with watching the planes. Same thing happened at Beja, at least on the first day of the exercise. Apparantly it got a little easier later on, but I was send away there as well.
Good to see you did give it a try and got something out of it!

Anyway this experience confirm one more time (sorry for my English ) that it is better to go outside Italy to see and photograps airports and airplanes considering that in italy there are very few
exercises.
I apologise for this photograps that are not so good due to some error of mine, the weather, and the camera an old Canon 400d. The lens it is, in my opinion very good, a Canon 300 f4 buyed used
few days before my trip.
Please feel free to comment my shoots, any suggestions to improve my photos will be welcome

Hello Alberto,

We met at the beach near Trapani Birgi last week. Indeed the carabinieri were a real pita, but fortunately, most days they didn't show up when the planes returned from their mission. So I was able to take some shots. The polizia was less fanatic and made no efforts to stop me from shooting or sending me away.

O and by the way, it was not my father or son that joined me, but my brother. I wonder which one of us you thought was the father... 8)
Anyway, here some pictures. Best day was Wednesday when all aircraft returned during sunset.

Hans

I hope to meet you at Tiger Meet, because I think you don' t like military exercise going on in Italy.
