Farewell ceremony FN Super Etendard?

Post by SquAdmin »

Apparently the French carrier Charles de Gaulle is heading back to Toulon and it will mean the end of carrier ops for the French Super Etendards. Probably it won't take long before the SEM will make it's final flight. Does anyone know when the final flight will take place and if some sort of event is organized to mark this?

I've picked up some rumours of a farewell ceremony at BAN Landivisiau somewhere in the second part of June or the first part of July, but I haven't found anything on the net... yet.

Some mechanics will be pleased to see it leaving the service. French mechanics I mean. For us it's a pity. Another beautiful plane leaving the sky's....

They don't know it exactly right now, but it might happen that they do something similar to the things they do at 14 July at the Champs-Elysees.
So that might be public as well....

That is not what the French text says. It says there will be an official farewell ceremony on Tuesday July 12, and that they hope that they will be able to do a final flypast during the celebrations of July 14 over Paris. So, no news on a public event at Landi... yet.

That would be as they did with the farewell of the Mirage F.1: a final ceremony followed by a final flypast over Paris on July 14.

This might be a stupid question. If so, sorry in advance. Does anybody know whether it is still worthwhile to go Landivisiau before the final flight? Let’s say between mid May and end of June. Are the Etendards still flying on a regular basis?
