I haven't quite followed this story, but the link mentioned above is a Russian website, placing Ukraine in a bad light. So, I would not take this article too seriously beforehand.

The "Russia-Insider" is certainly not "impartial/unbiased/neutral news media",
but indeed there is something quite "fishy"/"smelly" around this Mig-21 deal with Ukraine.
The best sources are probably mostly in the Croatian-language media.

The serial numbers on the engines of the aircraft do not correspond to those specified in the documentation provided by the Ukrainian Institute gave our Ministry of Defence
Two engines, which are located in the MiG-21 to these that Croatia bought in Ukraine are of unknown origin.
That is, the serial numbers on the engines do not match the numbers that are listed in the accompanying documentation by the Ukrainian Institute UKRSPECEXPORT submitted to the Ministry of Defense,

Until this information came USKOK employees who conduct investigations and procurement overhaul MiG-performed in Ukraine.
According to Jutarnji List, USKOK through international assistance addressed by the Bulgarian authorities to gather information on the purchased planes.

In 2003, hulls and aircraft engines were sold at the Ukrainian Institute UKRSPECEXPORT who had apparently bought working parts.
What is still going on with them, is not known.
According to unofficial information, most likely it comes to aircraft hulls that Bulgaria officially notified NATO that it was destroyed.
So the question remains how they are sold to Ukraine.
According to the data that has USKOK, the sale has provided a Bulgarian company,
but the Bulgarian authorities do not have any information about that company.
Apparently there is no written record of it.
It is now established that at least two planes built engines whose origin is unknown.
It is not known what their resources are, how old they are, how they had hours of flight time.
Resources engine shall be determined on the basis of flight hours.
After 450 hours of flight engines go for repairs.
If the data on hours of flight time are not known or do not match the real situation, the plane is dangerous for life pilots and should not be used.
As Jutarnji already written in previous investigations it was found that the fuselage originating unit inside Bulgaria older four to five years than what the documents.
Furthermore, the aircraft hulls are "typed" serial numbers and added new.
Now in turn found that engines in two of the five purchased aircraft of unknown origin.

The investigation of the military police

A year earlier just Jutarnji list first announced that Ukraine offers Croatia eight MiG-who actually are not their property but the property of the state of Yemen.
Ukrainian authorities claimed that the planes and their ownership of the Ukrainian Ambassador handed over the Ministry of Defence statement about it.
On the other hand, the commander of Yemen's air force sent a letter to the Ministry of Defence in which he stated that the planes in their property, but the Committee of Ministry of Defence to the letter declared false and concluded the deal with Ukraine.
