Re: Meppen Range 2016
Today around 11:30 LT I heard OUTLAW 03 on the Meppen freq's, he was in the holding north of the range. From my backyard I could ID this one with my bins as an F/A -18. I guess the Swiss AF one flying from Wittmund. Maybe someone can confirm this.erik_kamphuis wrote:October 4th:

GATOR was later in the afternoon, indeed a Tornado, from/to Schleswig. Tomorrow I will listen back the recordings for you which OUTLAW number he had.

Re: Meppen Range 2016
The 4th october, only the C-160D visited the Meppen range in the afternoon as "Outlaw1". As far as I know, the CH-53 84+84 did fly around, but as Scotty1. The CH-53 landed at Rheine-Bentlage at the same time the C-160D was already busy with exercising for al long time at Meppen. There were no Outlaw1 and Outlaw2 at Meppen the 4th October, only Outlaw1 the C-160D.
The 5th october, the morning started with a Tornado (Gator/Outlaw01) and the pilot mentioned later "See you in the afternoon". More "AM" vistitors that morning were Outlaw2 (C-160D 50+79, seen by myself and spotted). About 11:45 started Outlaw3 (F/A-18D J-5233). I left Meppen at 14:45 local time. In the afternoon, about 15:00 local the same pilot was back indeed. Same callsigns again as Gator/Outlaw01. Live military mode-s logged "Gator" as the 45+61. The 45+61 was spotted at Schleswig that afternoon indeed according FF. So think this was indeed the 45+61 in the afternoon and maybe even this morning.
The 6th october, The J-5233 landed as SUI517 at Wittmund in the morning. About 11:30 it was the only visitor this morning at Meppen, c/s Outlaw3. After exercising, it went back to Wittmund and departed to Switserland as SUI518 in the afternoon. In the afternoon at Meppen, only a C-160D exercised at Meppen as "Outlaw2".
The 7th october, Meppen started with Outlaw2, a C-160D again, and later followed by Outlaw3. Don't know if Outlaw3 was the F/A-18D again but it sounded "Suisse". Nothing in the afternoon of course .... weekend. The pilot of the C-160D mentioned by leaving Meppen: "See you next week".
That's all.. hope it helps.

Re: Meppen Range 2016
Incomplete Meppen Range Log 12-10-2016:
10:00u LT: OUTLAW 01 (P-3C / 60+05)
Later in the morning: OUTLAW 03 (F/A-18 Swiss AF) from/to Wittmundhafen, later on I heard a Swiss fighter jet on Lippe Radar & Rhein Radar heading for Switzerland. I guess this was the F/A-18.
Between these visitors (and in the afternoon) some helicopters were active overhead the range, no callsigns or types. Most of them started from the Meppen heli-port.
Beside the Swiss F/A-18, only the Germans participate in this exercise so far.
