According Scramble magazine no Frisian Flag in 2018 and 2019 Preparing for transition to the F-35 should be the reason.

RNLAF also tries to incorporate F35 in this exercise as soon as possible, but that also depends on the Yanks (participation of RAF or USAF ones)

Mooi bericht en ik begrijp dat de F-35 in de toekomst het luchtruim bewaakt.

Toch zie ik de komende jaren liever nog de huidige generatie vliegtuigen deelnemen.

Wat is je definitie van huidige generatie? Vliegtuigen uit de jaren tachtig?

Generatie is een verkeerd gekozen woord. Ik bedoel de vliegtuigen die nu nog actief zijn. Vaak ontwikkeld eind jaren zeventig en tachtig. Denk aan de F15's, F16's, Tornado's en zo.

Just did; LWD base commander posted on Twitter "see ya'll 2018" so it seems they changed minds about skipping the 2018 edition.
