Yes receivers switch off their transponders when engaging with the tanker. Good examples can be seen on the east coast of the UK, like USAF E-3s on transit (when they are not having an issue and need to divert to Mildenhall which is more common).Trabanti wrote:Apart from the 3 tankers (same daily pattern just northwest of Vlieland) and the Cobham Falcon 20, I just see 1 RAF Tornado (CES47) heading north over the North Sea coming from Lwd on ADS-B, but it disappears on and off for a few minutes.
