Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 14-16 July 2017
As an Easter weekend bonus we can confirm that the Swedish Air Force will attend the 2017 Air Tattoo!
Returning to display at the show this July will be a solo Saab JAS 39C Gripen, the primary fighter flown by the Swedish Air Force, plus a 'D' variant which will be available for a closer inspection in the static park.
The Gripen is a relatively small, lightweight machine by modern standards, but a rugged, effective and highly agile one. Its take-off and landing performance allow operation from shorter runways than many rivals; this is a consequence of the demanding original requirements from Sweden with the Swedish Air Force the largest operator of the JAS 39.

Elsewhere, the Dutch return with statics; the KDC-10 tanker, C-130H and Dornier Do-228 and Slovenia brings back its PC-9M into the flying display. The British contingent receives a big boost with Army Air Corps Apache in the flying display, Defender 4000 and Wildcat on static; RAF Viking, Vigilant, Puma and Tucano in the static park; and last, but no least, the Royal Navy confirms a Merlin HC3/3A, Wildcat HMA.2, Sea King ASaC.7, Hawk T.1 and Avenger T.1...
