Can anyone confirm the departure date please and are the Austrian's using the shelters or ramps. And of course are visible from outside the base?
Many thanks,
Tim.

Re: Wittmund (ETNT) 2017 MIL
Wittmund; Tuesday 2-5-2017
We had lots of sunshine this day when rain was expected.
Morning:
7L-WG EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader (Landed when we arrived, firetrucks near it)
30+30 EF2000 TLG71 L
7L-WB EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L
7L-WI EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L
C-FGZT/542 A-4N DADS L
7L-WO EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L
31+07 EF2000 TLG71 T/L
30+85 EF2000 TLG71 T/L
nn Sea King passing the airfield F
Afternoon
7L-WI EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader This one was being towed around the airfield, can anyone confirm this was also done with 7L-WH? Also German EF2000s were being towed but too far away to read off.
50+82 C-160D LTG63 L
C-FGZT/542 A-4N DADS T
31+10 EF2000 TLG71 T
31+12 EF2000 no badge T
7L-WD EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader T
7L-WG EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader T
7L-WB EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader T
nn EF2000 TLG71 towed from large hangar
50+82 C-160D LTG63 T
7L-WD EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L (declared technical problems on radio according to local spotters and came in)
31+10 EF2000 TLG71 L
31+12 EF2000 no badge L
C-FGZT/542 A-4N DADS L
7L-WG EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L
7L-WB EF2000 ÜbwGeschwader L
We dcided to have a look on the eastern side after 16.00h.
The left hangar was open partially, the hangar on the right to it was fully open
7L-WI was seen being towed again around the airfield.
Read off were:
C-FGZE/495 A-4N DADS with nose up
C-FGZS/337 A-4N DADS
C-FGZI/531 A-4N DADS
C-FGZT/542 A-4N DADS
Locals told us the Austrian EF2000s probably stay a few more days (after may 16th), in september the Polish AF is expected with their Vipers. This is what they had heard at least.
Hope the log is of use.
Regards, Paul and Per

Judging by the notams, yes.
The big question remains.... Will they be longer @ wittmund , as mentioned by locals?

Re: Wittmund (ETNT) 2017 MIL
According to an article in the local newspaper they will be till the 19th.
And they even speak about 15 Typhoons so maybe they change Typhoons the next week? time will tell.

19 May seems to be correct, but if i read the article it will be a crew change next week, so a new bunch of pilots.De Verrekieker wrote:According to an article in the local newspaper they will be till the 19th.

Austria only has 15 Typhoons of which some will be in maintenance and others needed for QRA duties, so i doubt they will change all Typhoons.
Re: Wittmund (ETNT) 2017 MIL
I doubt if they are going to swap Eurofighters at all. I suspect that the number of 15 mentioned in the article refers to the total number of Eurofighters operated by Austria, not the number of aircraft that will come to Wittmund.

Question Jos.
Where and when did you see the 7L-WD?
We made a drive around the base and saw the 7L-WI in front of a shelter.
We also saw you passing bye and waving to us )

Mister Bunzing,
Please read this item in the newspaper --> https://www.nwzonline.de/friesland/blau ... 05264.html
It says; The first 7 EF2000 landed on Witmund................ After one and a half week the next batch will come to Wittmund. All together 15 aircraft will come.
Clear to me.
Menno

7L-WD was towed from shelter to maintenance hangar after the last landings. 7L-WI was towed away from that maintenance hangar. Didn't wait to see where it went.

Re: Wittmund (ETNT) 2017 MIL
I think it was it the last shelter just right of the run-up. There was a towing truck in front of that shelter when we departed at 11:55 or so.michel N wrote:7L-WD was towed from shelter to maintenance hangar after the last landings. 7L-WI was towed away from that maintenance hangar.
