F-16 caught fire at Florennes
Hopelijk is iedereen ok.

https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/10/11 ... florennes/Florennes: an F16 explodes at the base and destroys others!
Published on Thursday 11 October 2018 at 14:49
This Thursday, around 14h, a violent explosion sounded at the Florennes airbase.
An F16 would have exploded.
An F16 parked at the end of the runway would, for some reason still unknown, explode. This explosion would have caused serious damage to other planes parked nearby.
It is still unclear whether there are wounded people among the personnel at the base.
Civilian firefighters from neighboring barracks were called in as reinforcements to contain the incident.
Two or more other aircraft would also have been damaged by this explosion.

La Derniere Heure has a picture. Appears to have been in the southeastern maintenance area:

...well, "explodeert" is in Dutch,
but I suppose most readers on this forum can very well link this Dutch phrase to "explodes/explosion"
Oh well, back to topic,
I suppose the moderators can come up with a suitable English-language phrase to edit the subject title

Re: F-16 explodeert op Florennes
The bottom line: one F-16 destroyed, one damaged. Two technicians injured, as in: suffering from hearing problems due to the explosion.

Aint fa101 dark falcon?
Aircraft looks to clean after the accident/incident to be wrapped into the colours of dark falcon prior to the fire.
Although i can not explain the thingies hanging from the vertical stabilo to the right.
Kind regards,
Stafsels

The skin of the vertical stabilizer contains carbon fibre. Because of the fire the fibres came loose.
That one of the dangers of a damaged / crashed aircraft.

At least you have proof that the Vulcan M61 cannon is effective.......Mark B. wrote:According to THIS article (in Dutch) cause already known. By accident bullets (?!!) were fired from another plane, they hit F-16AM FA-128 with catastrofic results.
