Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
As many of you know, it has been reported that the 301st FW/AFRC is to convert from the F-16C to the F-35A in the mid-'20s. However, a maintainer with that unit told me that they are expecting the first aircraft to arrive in 2020, as evidenced by the new hangar construction on base.
Can anyone else confirm this?

RSiAF Defence Minister
Our F-16s will have to retire soon after 2030. Happy to report that DSTA and The RSAF have completed their technical evaluation, and decided that the F-35 would be the most suitable replacement fighter.
We will procure a few planes first, before deciding on a full fleet.

There is speculation it might be the F-35B model which will be evaluated.Starfighter_F-104G wrote:RSiAF Defence Minister

Singapore is the 5th non-partner nation to sign up for the F-35 (the others being Belgium, Japan, Israel and South-Korea), alongside 8 partner nations (USA, UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Turkey, Italy, Australia).

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
Now LRIP-11 deliveries are well underway, in retrospect it seems the aid package for LRIP-10 never materialized? Only 9 USMC F-35B have been reported, as well as 2 USN F-35C. Therefore I now think all FY17 USAF F-35A belong to LRIP-11 as well. But correct me if I am wrong...Coati wrote:I am confident this is the first of the 3 aid package F-35As added to LRIP-10 in Nov 2016 (together with the 6 Bees and 4 C's). They were added to the program in a very late stage, therefore they are on the very end of the LRIP-10 production line.
I expected them to have FY16, but apparently paperwork was only finished just after FY16 was closed, hence the FY17. Most probably LRIP-11 will also have FY17, I think that LRIP-11 was finalized in FY17 (but not 100% sure).
See also LRIP 9 and 10: both have FY 15, because the LRIP 9 negotiations took ages.

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
Busy day for the RNLAF, I have read on another page that F-003 will have its official roll out ceremony that same day at Fort Worth... Or a mix-up?? I personally think F-009 is still on the assembly line..Starfighter_F-104G wrote:30.01.2019

F-003 will officially be handed over to the RNLAF. that's something different than a roll out from the production site or first flight.Mark B. wrote:Busy day for the RNLAF, I have read on another page that F-003 will have its official roll out that same day at Fort Worth...
