Re: D-day 06jun19
For those heading to Normandy and planning to go to the landing beaches when there is no activity at Caen-Carpiquet on the 6th of June, make sure you're aware of the driving restrictions in the area.

Thankk you for your answer, but I know this list, I don`t know the D-DAY list, and so I can`t compare

Today I was at Caen. I strongly doubt at what you are saying. Parking along the road between the airport and the highway is prohibited from 5 June 12hrs and 7 June 12hrs. This will be with a reason.Stranger wrote:For those heading to Normandy and planning to go to the landing beaches when there is no activity at Caen-Carpiquet on the 6th of June, make sure you're aware of the driving restrictions in the area.

Getting access into the safe zone is peanuts. You go to the tours office of Caen and you get one for free. Just show them your id. That is all you need to do.
Re: D-day 06jun19
Sorry, should have said no Daks over Normandy activity. There should be plenty of other interesting visitors that day at Caen - taking into consideration several heads of state will attend the official ceremonies.
Getting access to the controlled zone is easy - when you have the sticker. Hence my message, as you don’t want to end up getting into discussion with a gendarme on the 6th because you didn’t get a sticker before heading out. Caen is outside controlled zone anyways.

I'm very interested what their destination will be, 5 years ago I was at Cherbourg with all the Daks en Herky's overthere, super. Hopefully they go to Caen but I'm not sure... means a lot extra kilometers...Marcovh wrote:Above France now are heading west:

Re: D-day 06jun19
Today seen overhead Deauville beach were the following CH-47F's:
15-08195
14-08168
16-08202
16-08200
All with the 1st AVN, with markings. Some loadmasters wete taking pix of the beach from the ramps.
Most likely coming from Le Havre heading south along the beaches.
